Orchard Road and Co. – Exploring Singapore

This morning, me and Shaun (a guy from Australia that I met at the hostel) went to orchard road, which is like the “Champsélysées” of Singapore. Lots of fancy and expensive shops – needless to say we didn’t leave any money with Gucci, Prada or Burberry .. #poorbackpackersAfterwards, we shared a traditional Singaporean breakfast at a little shabby though authentic restaurant: Kaya toast and soy milk with grass jelly. Kaya is a sweet pudding with milk, eggs and coconut milk that you traditionally spread on toast. Pretty yummmmey!!

After that little refreshment, we went to the Malayan district of Singapore, called Payah Lebar. It was actually really nice to get away from the busy city center and all the touristy stuff. We even went to buddhist temple and asked Buddha to keep an eye on us during our backpacking adventures.

At night, we went to gardens by the bay again to watch the light show, which was really pretty and accompanied by some cool music. Before that, we also had a really good dinner in Chinatown: coconut milk, stir fried vegetables and shrimp noodles.

Now I’m off to bed since my bus for Malaysia is leaving at 8:30am.
Bye bye, Singapore – it’s been real !
