Delicious Vietnam

Vietnam offers some of the best food I’ve had in Southeast Asia so far: a variety of mixed vegetables, seafood, tofu, fresh fruit and mixed fruit shakes, bbq chicken, pork and shrimp, fresh spring rolls, soups and amazing coffee drinks – to list only a few of the great dishes from the Vietnamese cuisine.

5 course taster menu at “Miss Ly’s” in Hoi An – four very traditional Vietnamese dishes, served in small portions. Totally recommendable in order to try everything and get an idea of the Vietnamese cuisine. I wish I remembered all the names of the dishes – sorry about that:

This kind of candy must be famous in all of Vietnam: You can find it everywhere on the streets and the locals seem to really like it. It is super sweet and most of it has some kind of a jelly texture. It’s made from coconut, bean, corn or fruit and a lot of sugar and you simply pour everything into a cup and eat it just like that. Nettie and I gave it a try but I think in the future we’ll rather stick to good ole German Milka chocolate. Obviously, the more than unnatural colors contributed to our, let’s call it interesting, taste experience.
