Despite the fact that I had an amazing time backpacking through Southeast Asia anyway, I’m so incredibly happy that I got to spend part of my journey with the two most important people in my life. The two weeks I spent with my parents in Vietnam couldn’t have been more fun, interesting, exciting or wonderful! Thank you so much for all your support and love. Without you, this trip wouldn’t have been possible for me in the first place. And also thank you for joining me on my adventures in Vietnam and sharing all these great memories with me. I love y’all so much and I’m so thankful to call you my parents.
I am beyond blessed!
SLEEPER TRAIN FROM HUE TO HANOI
so cozy! Not too expensive, good price-value ratio and we really got a good night of sleep. I love taking overnight busses or trains: you safe the money for a night at a hostel, safe travel time during the day and it’s always a little bit of an adventure going on those nightly trips. And the next morning, you’re all ready to go and explore the next destination.
SOFITEL LEGEND METROPOLE HANOI
Welcome to the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi – indulgence at its best. After Mom and Dad mastered two weeks of pure backpacker life with me, we decided to treat ourselves to some well deserved luxury at the Sofitel in Hanoi. Honestly, when do you ever get the chance to stay at a five-star hotel as cheaply as in Southeast Asia? We simply couldn’t let this one pass by. Another unexpected convenience was the upgrade to the Club Lounge, due to the fact that the hotel was overbooked and we weren’t able to get our booked room category. We didn’t mind it a bit and I really wish this would happen more often: free delicious food & drinks all day, and the feeling of belonging to that “upper class” – I could totally get used to this. The transition from backpacking to luxury wasn’t hard for any of us.

MY TIPS & RECOMMENDATIONS
- When you’re in Hanoi, make sure to get a “Coconut coffee” at Cong Caphe. It’s just so good!
