I could’ve spent so much more time in Cambodia! It’s such a shame I only had five days to explore this amazing country.
Natalie – I met her in Chiang Rai, Thailand, we happened to be in Siem Reap at the same time and since we kept in touch we decided to meet up – and I went to the temples for sunrise and therefore, had to start our day at 5am in the morning. The area of Angkor lays about 6km out of town and we enjoyed the cool and fresh morning breeze as our Tuktuk driver Mr. Da drove us to the temples. Everything was still dark and it was such a mystic atmosphere.
It’s only been 2 weeks but I gotta say that Lao’s been good to me. From the amazing gibbon experience, long and crowded slow boat rides, relaxed days in Luang Prabang, great sandwiches and fun tubing in Vang Vieng to more chill days on the 4000 islands.
You should definitely check out the Kuang Si Waterfalls when you’re in Luang Prabang! It’s only a short ride from the city and you’ll be amazed by the beautiful nature, you can take great pictures & even go for a swim on top of the waterfall. Luang Prabang has a lot to offer: great street & food markets, a view point high above the city, the Kuang Si Waterfalls, countless tours to go on, some nice bars for a pretty decent night life & even a public swimming pool! Make sure to stop here on your way south.
Today is day 2 on the slow boat from Huayxay to Luang Prabang. We stopped in Pakbeng yesterday, to spend the night there, and after they squeezed every person that was waiting on the pier onto the boat, everyone was truly relieved when we got to our stopover destination after 5 1/2 hours on the water.
