I found the hostel pretty easily after that nice lady had helped me a lot and once again, I got really lucky with my accommodation! The house of journey is just around the corner from a street food market, Main Street, the street art district and some cool bars and hostels. Continue reading
Goodbye, Jalan-Jalan and Melaka
After having some pretty great breakfast in Melaka this morning, Molly, Monti and me said goodbye to Vitalis and went to the Melaka Central bus station. I got on my bus to Penang at 10:30 and they were gonna catch theirs to Singapore at 11am. At the first bathroom stop we made, I already had my first adventure of the day. When I stepped outside the restrooms, the bus wasn’t in its parking spot anymore. It was gone. With my backpack and my guitar. The stop was supposed to be 10 minutes long but it had only been 7 min! I almost died of a heart attack …

I don’t even know where to start
This day has just been amazing! Definitely the best day so far:
It started out with the great happening of getting 11 1/2 hours of sleep. The first night for me since I got here that I didn’t wake up – at least not really. There was that guy from the mosque across the street singing his prayer out loud at 6am but that was alright – and already went to bed at midnight! After sleeping in, I just walked around town for a little while, trying to find some fruit for the bus ride tomorrow, which was actually not as easy as I would’ve thought. Continue reading
Off to country no. 2: Malaysia Calling
This jet lag is really starting to bother me .. Since I got here I haven’t gotten a decent night of sleep because I either wake up in the middle of the night or I can’t fall asleep until 4/5am.
Anyway, after two hours of sleep I got up at 6:30am this morning because Shaun and I had to catch the bus to malacca, Malaysia. After one hour of waiting (turns out nothing is ever on time here) and thinking about plan b, the bus finally showed up and Shaun, me and a couple of dads with their kids got on the road to Malaysia. First stop: Legoland! Continue reading
Orchard Road and Co. – Exploring Singapore

This morning, me and Shaun (a guy from Australia that I met at the hostel) went to orchard road, which is like the “Champsélysées” of Singapore. Lots of fancy and expensive shops – needless to say we didn’t leave any money with Gucci, Prada or Burberry .. #poorbackpackers Continue reading
Beach day in Singapore
Today I met two guys from southern Germany that I went to the beach with. Sentosa island is kinda like an amusement park on an island but we only went to the beach and hung out there all day. Time just goes by so fast when you don’t have anything to do! But we had a lot of fun and took great pictures. Continue reading
Little India and Chinatown

After I finally found my hostel (and yes, I had to take a little nap) I walked through little India and Chinatown and that was just overwhelming! So many people, so much stuff to buy, so much food, so much yelling and noises and so many impressions cramped into one little space.. Continue reading
Made it to Southeast Asia – beyond happy and excited!

After a pretty nice and casual 6 hour flight from Frankfurt to Dubai (where I already made my first friend – Lina from Karlsruhe who will be in Thailand and we might meet up at some point) and another 7 hour flight to Singapore I finally arrived at my destination! Continue reading
