Hoi An, you’ve been good to us, but now we’re off to our next stop: the UNESCO world heritage site of the Imperial City in Hue.
The next great encounter with locals in Vietnam happened our first night in Hue when we were listening to some street music at the night market. Ton and her friend (both 17 but we thought they could’ve easily passed for 12) just walked up to us and randomly started talking to us. At first we were really surprised but we enjoyed talking to the girls and they were really interested in Germany, Europe and our opinion on their country. It turned out that Ton wants to study languages in college and therefor always looks for an opportunity to improve her English and simply walks up to western strangers and talk to them. We ended up inviting the two girls for a drink, talked for a couple of hours and had a really great night. It was kind of sad when they had to go home but we quickly took some pictures to remember our fun night, exchanged contact information and the next morning I woke up to a really cute facebook post saying how much she enjoyed meeting us and that she can’t wait to see us again – maybe in Germany next time.
